The Supervisory Board of HAS University of Applied Sciences in 's-Hertogenbosch appointed Reggy van der Wielen as chair of the Executive Board with effect from 10 May 2021. Van der Wielen succeeds Dick Pouwels, who bid HAS farewell in December 2020. As a result, the 3-seat Executive Board is once again complete.
Reggy van der Wielen (1965) has enjoyed a long career in the global food supply, with an explicit focus on the chain, sustainability, and nature. “An energetic personality with plenty of power to make connections, who is consciously committing to the social challenges facing the green sector with this step. HAS University of Applied Sciences is contributing to the global transition in the agro, food and living environment with applied research and practical solutions. Reggy’s experience in corporate R&D can give these activities an extra boost,” says Hans Huijbers, chair of the Supervisory Board.
Forceful figurehead
Liz Chermin, current acting chair of the Executive Board, is also pleased with Reggy’s appointment: “His long-standing relationship with the sector makes him a forceful figurehead for our green university of applied sciences. He’s a person with an extensive network and an innovative outlook who will further connect HAS with the national and international playing field.”
Global food supply
Reggy previously worked at FrieslandCampina as R&D Director Research & Technology, and in various R&D leadership positions at Unilever. His work has always been about striving for a global supply of healthy, tasty (and affordable) food, with particular focus on a sustainable and nature-inclusive chain. He studied Human Nutrition in Wageningen. From 1991 to 1995, he worked as a researcher at Wageningen University, where he obtained his PhD for research into the food consumption of the elderly in Europe, specialising on the vitamin supply.
