Under the leadership and direction of Frans van Leijden, HAS green academy (in his time HAS hogeschool) in Venlo has become a vibrant branch. As a tribute to him, following his death in 2020, we have therefore created the Frans van Leijden Award. This year we are presenting this award for the 2nd time.

Winners FoodmanShip Awards revealed! On 30 January, the promising winners of the FoodmanShip Awards 2024 were announced at the annual HAS Food Experience, organised by HAS green academy. Six driven students, almost ready to enter the job market, were awarded for their exceptional contributions to the food systems and nutrition of the future. All within the theme: 'Taste the Future'.

Carolina, a 4th-year student at the International Food & Agribusiness programme, is this year's proud winner of the Adri den Dekker Prize. With this incentive prize, HAK challenges students each year to come up with the best idea to make agriculture more sustainable and future-proof. The prize includes a study cheque of €2,000.
IntroFood100 recently presented the 100 most influential Dutch food changemakers of the moment for the eighth time, and HAS teacher Bram van Helvoirt has also been nominated!

Paula had always been passionate about animals, and really wanted to work in the sector.

Why HAS green academy? Ali explains: “The practical approach and hands-on mentality of the University of Applied Sciences were the main reasons for making the big step to study in the Netherlands.” The perfect opportunity to challenge himself in ways he was not used to.
Because of his background in pharmacy and nutrition, Francisco was interested in related fields such as agrochemicals and plant nutrition. That is why HAS green academy was the best option for him.
The balance between theoretical and practical experiences was very important for Sayonika while searching for universities. Also, the university had to be located in an internationally friendly country. HAS green academy offered her both. This made her decision a lot easier.
